Meeka Roman, 10, from Bonteheuwel, has earned a spot on the SA squad set to take part at the World Gymnaestrada 2023 in Amsterdam, in July.
A member of the Athlone-based Bemur Gymnastics and Dance and a Grade 4 pupil at Silverlea Primary School, young Meeka has been doing gymnastics for four years and performed the role of Moana, the character featured in the Disney animated film by the same name at a competition last year.
She was also part of the team that won gold in their division at the Cape Town Gymnastics Association’s “Gym for Life Challenge” in July last year.
