Karate Satori students, some of them fasting for Ramadaan and some making their debut, performed well at the national championships in Durban, at the weekend.
Karate Satori’s Nawaz Bailey, 10, from New Woodlands and a Grade 5 pupil at Al Azhar Primary School, was among the students who performed well at the weekend’s Karate South Africa (KSA) national championships in Durban, winning gold in his division to take the national title. Karate Satori’s Rania Manoek, 13, from The Westridge and a Grade 7 pupil at Al Azhar, was crowned SA under-47kg champion at the weekend’s KSA national championship.Keandre de Kock, 14, from Strandfontein, a Grade 9 pupil at Sans Souci Girls’ High School, won gold in the under-47kg cadet division.Reese Jackson, 13, centre, from Westgate and a Grade 7 pupil at York Road Primary School in Lansdowne, took part in his first national championships, finishing third to take the bronze medal in his division.
