Gone too soon... The family of club soccer stalwart John Scheepers, who died recently, would like to thank everyone who supported them.

John Scheepers or Skippie, from Westridge, as he was known to many, served within the structures of the Local Football Association – Mitchell’s Plain (LFA-MP) and Mitchells Plain Football District (MPFD) for more than 30 years.
He was driven by an unwavering and unselfish commitment to uplift football in Mitchell’s Plain, and through this he left a legacy of supporting many clubs with SAFA-CT as well as individual tournament related registrations.
Sadly, he passed away on Monday November 28 at the age of 77 after a long illness. He will be sorely missed by many in the football fraternity who admired his work ethic and investment of time away from his family to get things done.
This was also echoed by LFA-MP president Gilbert Kruger at his funeral, who touched on his humble demeanor and never wanting to get involved in the “politics of football”.
The family would like to thank the LFA-MP Executive Committee for all their support over the years, as well as to Westridge Football Club (WFC) and all the LFA-MP affiliated clubs and their members for sharing his vision and passion for the game.
The family would also want to extend their appreciation and gratitude to everyone who had sent comforting messages via WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
