Naathierah Taliep, from Portland and a member of Lansdowne-based Stallions Pool Club, was crowned Pool SA women's singles national champion, beating Cape Winelands' Sasha Leigh Amsterdam in the finals, in Potchefstroom, at the weekend. Now ranked number one in the country, Taliep beat Bonteheuwel's Tasneem Solomons in the semi-finals of the women's opening competition and the women's singles semi-final. The two paired up at last year's World Eightball Pool Federation world championships in England, finishing runners-up in the women's doubles competition.
