On Monday October 31, you will start your final matric examination.
You are one of the 73 846 pupils in the Western Cape that will write.
You have worked hard to get to this point and you must be proud of yourself.
Twelve years ago you started the race with 100 362 pupils in Grade 1 and now you are about to write your final exam.
This is a great achievement.
Writing your final exam does not mean that you are finally done with learning.
This means that you have a bright future ahead of you.
It is not the time to give up now you have the choice to give your best and achieve a successful completion of Grade 12 to open new doors with new opportunities.
During the next, few weeks you will feel overwhelmed and most of the time stressed.
Take it easy and make sure that you prepare for all your exams. Stay focused, everything else can wait for after the exams.
Your goal is to complete your finals successfully.
All educators prepared you for the exams and equipped you to be ready.
Your parents supported you during the 12 years of school and ensured that you got the necessary support.
Your friends and family were there for you during this time.
After all the preparation and support from your teachers, friends and family - now it is time to do this for yourself and your future.
As your ward councillor I am proud of you as I know for many of you, you are the first child, grandchild or member in your family to get this far.
You are writing your family’s history for others to look up to you to complete their final year of school successfully.
For those pupils that want to go beyond this please communicate with your teachers and ask them to assist you.
Yes, you can, and yes, you are able to achieve more than what is expected from you.
