Little ones light up the stage

Alicia English|Published 5 months ago

More than 400 children from 12 preschools took part in the concert held at Yellowwood Primary in Tafelsig.

More than 400 children from 12 preschools had their moment to shine on stage during a concert held at Yellowwood Primary in Tafelsig on Saturday November 23.

The event, which drew an audience of more than 1600 parents and relatives and included a graduation ceremony that marked the little ones’ departure next year for “big school”, was organised by the Mizpah Educare Centre in Beacon Valley with support from Ward 116 councillor Solomon Philander.

“It was a proud moment for the parents and teachers,” said Mr Philander.

Then, last Friday, Mizpah Educare Centre arranged a “book character day” for six educare centres at the Town Centre library, where the little ones were read to from Mahalia the Rainbow Princess, I CAN and I Miss Daddy, all books with characters that are linked to Mitchell’s Plain.

Mizpah Educare’s principal, Anthea Arendse, handed over educational gift packs, which included diaries and children's books, to each of the six preschools. The packs were funded by the Ward 116 grant-in-aid budget.
