Bradley Langford, former Montclair resident
This letter serves as a heartfelt thank you to our family doctor of 37 years, Dr Wilhelm Coetzee, and his staff.
Dr Coetzee graduated as a general practitioner in 1985. He has been practising in Mitchell’s Plain (first at Medi-Clinic, then Mitchell’s Plain Medical Centre, followed by Melomed Hospital) since 1987, along with his three staff members. All of them have been working there for more than 30 years.
After 38 years of dedicated service, he is closing his surgery in the Town Centre. What a bittersweet moment for our community.
Dr Coetzee has been more than just a doctor; he has been a beacon of compassion, care, and connection. His ability to listen, empathise, and truly see his patients as individuals — not just cases — has left a lasting mark on our lives.
For many of us, he wasn’t just a healthcare provider but a confidant and a source of reassurance. His warmth and unwavering commitment created a ripple effect of positivity, fostering a sense of trust and unity in our community.
As he steps into the next chapter of his life, we celebrate not only his incredible career but also the values he has embodied and the countless lives he has touched.
Thank you, Dr Coetzee, and thank you to your impeccable staff, Shaheeda Aploon, Farieda Schroeder and Shaheeda Jacobs.
Your service and compassion leave a legacy of kindness behind. You and your staff have shown us what it means to care in the truest sense. Wishing you all the best for the future.
