Hospital service deserves an award

I was discharged from Mitchell’s Plain District Hospital, in Lentegeur, two days before the new year after being there for three weeks during which time I had surgery for gallbladder disease.

I would like to express my sincere thanks for the wonderful and professional treatment I received.

We are indeed privileged to have such a wonderful medical facility in our midst.

The wonderful and professional doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers and other support personnel were like a well-oiled machine. Each knew their responsibility and executed their task perfectly.

Their treatment of this “gallbladder disease” was a marvel to behold. How thankful I am for their ability to enhance my recovery.

I want to thank the first responders and ambulance staff for without them, perhaps you would be reading my obit. They are super-trained and know what they are doing all of the time.

I also need to thank every doctor, nurse and security guard for their patience, willingness to help patients, their long hours of service and, most of all, their determination and drive to help everyone. And a very special thank you to the male surgical ward on the first floor.

I want to thank Dr Gool, Dr Kasiem, Dr Karriem and the rest of the doctors’ teams, including the nursing staff, Sister Linky and Miss Marin. There are so many to mention.

It’s not just a job for them. They are people who care, show respect and treat patients like their own. So thank you for the fine medical attention given by all.

They collectively and individually deserve a standing ovation, and I equally applaud the follow-up services.
