The City has called on residents to attend an online information session about the invasive polyphagous shot hole borer beetle next week.
The webinar will be hosted by deputy mayor Eddie Andrews and officials from the City's invasive species unit on Tuesday January 28, from 5pm until 6.30pm.
This follows a report on the latest borer beetle sighting in a tree in Durbanville.
Residents who have trees on their properties are encouraged to join the online meeting to learn more about the beetle, including the threat it poses to Cape Town’s urban forest.
Some of the trees affected in Cape Town include boxelders, London planes, English oaks, beef wood, weeping willow, Cape chestnut, sweet viburnum, black locust, paperbark, liquid amber, Chinese cottonwood and maples.
