Community safety and neighbourhood watch members hosted a youth anti-crime programme at Hazeldene taxi rank, in Portland, on Saturday June 15.
Mitchell’s Plain Community Police Forum’s Portland Sub-forum and partners, including Portland Neighbourhood Watch, non-profit organisations Epic Building, Mosaic, Amandla Development; Mitchell’s Plain SAPS and the Department of Correctional Services have flagged Hazeldene taxi rank as a crime hotspot.
They hosted a youth anti-crime programme to celebrate the youth and raise awareness about crime, gangsterism, gender-based violence and substance abuse.
CPF secretary Ben de Vos said the purpose of the day was to create awareness and to reclaim the public space.
