Woodlands mothers working together to keep children occupied and away from social ills.
Mothers Who Care was started in 2011 to keep children off the street and occupied by honing their skills as performers.
The group held a street party on Saturday November 3 to showcase the children’s dancing and modelling talents. The mothers also walked around the community calling on residents to support their initiative.
Zubeiga Allie said the children had been practising for months ahead of the street party.
She said it was much more than a show but rather about the community coming together, trusting each other and creating bonds to build a better society.
Thelma Petersen thanked all their sponsors for supporting the event.
“It is not about us but rather about the children,” she said.
Patricia Meyer said the event was a reminder for all children to stay away from drugs and gangsterism.
“They must know that we care and love them,” she said.
