Mitchell’s Plain poets and pupils from Wavecrest Primary School, in Rocklands, shared their love of words at the United Democratic Front (UDF) monument on Tuesday March 22.
Rocklands library hosted this event in honour of World Poetry Day and Human Rights Day, which are honoured on March 21.
They invited pupils from Wavecrest Primary School and Ralu Educare Centre, the Rocklands community, COGH co-owner and events manager Celeste Daniels, from Lentegeur, and Sticky Toffees founder Dominique Adams, to recite their poems.
Three Grade 7 pupils recited poems in English, Afrikaans and Xhosa.
Master of ceremonies was Town Centre librarian Hadjira Sydow, from Portland, and Rocklands children’s librarian Allyssa Buso thanked everyone for their attendance and participation.
