Four people were arrested after a man was killed in Jukskei Street, Beacon Valley, on Tuesday March 30.
Mitchell’s Plain SAPS members received a complaint of assault at 2.20am.
The man had been stoned, stabbed multiple times in his chest and assaulted with a spade.
Three men and one woman, 32, two aged 36 and 49 appeared in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on Thursday April 1.
Anyone who might have information about the incident is asked to contact the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Angus November of the Mitchell’s Plain Serious and Violent Crimes unit at 082 777 8076.
In another case, Mitchell’s Plain police arrested a 28-year-old man after they received information about firearms and drugs being kept at a premises in Zelda Street, Tafelsig, on Sunday April 4, at 6pm.
Police found five 9mm short rounds, six 38 special rounds, 32 7.65mm live rounds and 77 9mm rounds in a black plastic bag buried in the sand in the front yard.
On the same day at 10pm, a 39-year-old man started running, in Francis Street, Tafelsig, when he saw police.
Police chased the man and found a black 9mm Barrette with serial number QT122435 and one live round of ammunition in the chamber as well as one magazine with 13 live rounds and another magazine with 12 rounds. The suspect is a gang member.
Over the Easter weekend there were many drug arrests.
On Thursday April 1 at 7.30pm Mitchell’s Plain SAPS stopped and searched a man in Elektra Street, Eastridge. They found 150 straws of heroin in his possession. Police arrested a man, 37. The suspect faces charges of possession of heroin. The suspect appeared in court on Tuesday April 6.
On Friday April 2 at 7pm Mitchell’s Plain SAPS stopped and searched a man in Korhaan Street, Rocklands. When they stopped and searched the man, they found a container with three heroin and 18 whole mandrax tablets next to him. Police arrested a man, 36. The suspect faces charges of possession of drugs. The suspect appeared in court on Tuesday April 6.
On the same day, Friday April 2 at 8:30pm Mitchell’s Plain CPU were busy with crime prevention patrols in Northwest Street, Rocklands. They stopped and searched a man in front of a known drug house and found a container with 14 straws of heroin, 16 packets of heroin and five whole mandrax tablets . Police arrested a man, 40, who faces charges of possession of drugs. The suspect appeared in court on Tuesday April 6.
On Sunday April 4 at 6pm Mitchell’s Plain SAPS received information about drugs being sold from a premises in Zelda Close, Tafelsig. Upon searching the premises, police found 100 straws of heroin, nine whole mandrax tablets, 10 half mandrax tablets and 35 packets of tik. Police arrested a man, 31. The suspect faces charges of possession of drugs. The suspect appeared in court on Tuesday April 6.
On the same day Sunday April 4 at 6:30pm Mitchell’s Plain SAPS received information about a man selling drugs in a park in Mountain Street, Tafelsig. Police searched the suspect and they found a tablet container in his possession containing 20 straws of heroin, 19 packets of tik and four half mandrax tablets. Police arrested a man, 20. The suspect faces charges of possession of drugs. The suspect is a gang member. The suspect appeared in court on Tuesday April 6.
