Suppliers, contractors, tenants and employees of Liberty Promenade shopping centre donated non-perishable grocery items worth more than R40 000 to Training Workshop Unlimited, in Lentegeur, on Mandela Day. The workshop, neighbour to the shopping centre, creates jobs, offers job coaching and is a poverty alleviation project for people with intellectual disabilities. They offer training and skills development opportunities to their service users, many of whom have never had access to formal schooling. The centre’s 67-minute contribution at the official hand-over, included a performance by pantsula dancers, The Professionals, and a cake designed by High Tea Tighty which highlighted the milestones in Madiba’s life.
