The Hawks are calling on victims of alleged Ponzi scheme mastermind Pastor Colin Davids to come forward
According to Captain Lloyd Ramovha of the Hawks, the 39-year-old Plattekloof pastor is accused of defrauding victims of millions of rands.
He appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday January 18, where he was given a seven-month reprieve. His bail was set at R100000 after appearing in court in September last year.
NationalProsecuting Authority (NPA) spokesman Eric Ntabazalila said the matter was adjourned until Tuesday September 27 to finalise the investigation.
He faces charges of fraud and contravening the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act and Banks Act after his trading company, Platinum Forex, which is not registered by the Financial Services Board, allegedly duped investors with promises of higher than normal returns on their investments.
The case is at an advanced stage with many “investors” having submitted affidavits.
The Hawks have urged victims to co-operate with investigators and call Lieutenant Colonel Jerome Hardenberg at 082 850 9747 or email HardenbergJ@saps.gov.za for appointments to depose affidavits.
