Uprooted in Christ community development, a non-governmental organisation supporting vulnerable families across Mitchell's Plain, is appealing for donations of clothing and shoes to continue its work.

The group relies on community support to provide for residents struggling with rising living costs, and continuous donations have made it possible for them to reach more households each year.

In May, they hosted their seventh clothing drive, offering residents the opportunity to collect clothing and shoes at no cost.

Founder Juliana Philander thanked the people of Mitchell's Plain for their ongoing support, which had been vital in sustaining these drives.

The organisation said the drive was open to anyone in need and aimed to ease the pressure on families struggling with rising living costs. Pictured are the attendees shopping for free clothing items.

The organisation also thanked New Life Pentecost Church in Tafelsig for making their church building available earlier this year. They said the partnership strengthened their work and reflected a shared commitment to serving families across Mitchell's Plain.

Uprooted in Christ has taken its clothing drives to Rocklands, Valhalla Park, The Farm Recreation Centre in Mitchell's Plain, Beacon Valley, Eastridge, and Tafelsig. The organisation said each area represents a community they hope to continue supporting as long as resources and donations allow.

Their next planned drive between March and May is aimed at another part of Mitchell's Plain, with the hope of reaching even more residents.
