The Colorado Residents’ and Ratepayers’ Association (CRRA) hosted a Youth Celebration Event.

On Saturday, November 8, children and families from across the community came together for a full day of fun and activities.

The event was not a fund-raiser for CRRA, although there were stalls set up for non-profits to raise funds for their own organisations. It also provided an opportunity to showcase the hard work that has gone into beautifying the skatepark. CRRA expressed their gratitude to donors, said Jenny Daniels, deputy chairperson.

Portland Drilling Squad did an exhibition for the community.

Chairperson Natalie Bent said the vision for the event was to encourage the community to take ownership of local parks so that children can enjoy them safely.

“Parks should be spaces for the community, not for gangs,” and thanked everyone who has helped maintain and beautify the skatepark.

During the event, families were able to walk around and see the improvements made to the park. Entertainment included performances from Portland Drilling, Paulse Dancing Group, Mixfit, tug of war, and a kite competition.
