Members of Beacon Valley Baptist Church, together with residents, took to the streets for a heartfelt “No More Violence” Prayer Walk.
The initiative, held on Sunday, October 19, brought together people of all ages in a show of unity and faith along Cadillac Street, a street in Beacon Valley that has witnessed several tragic shootings and loss of life, said Reverend Dean Ford of Beacon Valley Baptist Church.
Participants wore white T-shirts bearing the slogan “No More Violence – Mitchell’s Plain.” Along the route, the group paused at locations where violent incidents had occurred, offering prayers for healing, protection, and restoration.

A particularly moving moment took place outside Imperial Primary School, where prayers were offered not only for the teachers and pupils of that school but for all schools in the area, he said.
The prayer walk was a plea for divine intervention against all forms of violence, including gender-based violence.
“We believe prayer changes things. This was our way of standing together, declaring peace over our streets and our children,” said Reverend Ford.
