RLabs, the social innovation organisation based in Westridge, has officially launched its own football team, HOPE Football Club (FC).

Partnering with various stakeholders, RLabs aims to extend its mission of youth empowerment and social transformation through sport — creating new pathways to livelihoods for young footballers, said Marlon Parker, founder of RLabs.

In their first official match on Saturday, October 11, at Erica Park in Belhar, HOPE FC defeated Stellenbosch Maties 4–0 in their Nedbank Cup debut.

The team’s performance reflected passion, discipline, and teamwork — values that align closely with the RLabs ethos of hope and empowerment, Mr Parker said.

With this win, HOPE FC advances to the next round of the Nedbank Cup preliminaries, taking place on Saturday, October 18 at 3pm at Erica Park in Belhar, continuing their journey of HOPE in action.

The day will include a food truck market with a variety of RLabs entrepreneurs, alongside learning and entrepreneurial opportunities for the community.

Everyone is invited to attend, support the team, and benefit from the empowerment initiative and football project.
