The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate has advised residents of roadworks in Strandfontein and Pelican Heights, which started on Monday, September 29, and are scheduled to continue until Friday, October 31, weather permitting.

The affected roads include Seafarer Drive in Strandfontein, as well as Beak Street, Gannet Street, Skua Crescent, Owl Street, Shelduck Crescent, Albatross Street, Duiker Close, Gull Crescent, Tern Street, Plover Street, Osprey Street, Nightjar Street, Swan Street, and Seagull Street in Pelican Heights.

Work will take place on weekdays between 9am and 5pm. The project includes resurfacing of several roads, installation and repairs to kerbs, manholes, and channels where required.

According to the City, all road markings removed during the process will be replaced with new retro-reflective paint to improve visibility and safety.

“The urban mobility team will resurface a number of roads in the Strandfontein and Pelican Park area. We will ensure that all road markings removed during the process will be reinstated with new retro-reflective road marking paint to improve visibility and road safety," said the City's mayoral committee member for urban mobility, Rob Quintas.

Regular maintenance works, such as this, prolong the longevity of the City’s road network and helps us keep Cape Town moving,” said Mr Quintas.

The City has warned that congestion can be expected during the works and urged road users to proceed with caution.
