A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Woodlands after police found him with 1 020 mandrax tablets worth R30 600 and a firearm with 15 live rounds.
According to Lentegeur police spokesperson Navon van Houten, officers were patrolling a hotspot area in Perseus Street, Woodlands, on Monday, September 1,5, when they spotted the teenager, an alleged well-known gang member.
On seeing the police van, he ran, but officers chased him into a house where he was arrested. A black firearm with 15 live rounds was discovered tucked in his waist, along with a bag containing the mandrax tablets.
On Sunday September 14, police searched a house in Montrose Park where they seized 100 mandrax tablets with a street value of R3 000.

In a separate case, the day before, Sunday, September 14, police searched a house in Montrose Park where they seized 100 mandrax tablets with a street value of R3 000.
Later that evening, while patrolling Pasteurhof Court in Woodlands, they arrested a man found in possession of an imitation firearm.
A man, 23, was arrested when he was found in possession of an imitation firearm.
