The Girls to Queen programme hosted a special celebration honoring young girls as they step into the peak of young adulthood.
The event was held on Friday, August 15, during Women’s Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the strength and impact of women in our nation.
In the spirit of, “You strike a woman, you strike a rock," Girls to Queen sought to empower and affirm the next generation of women, said Girls to Queen founder Tarryn De Reuck.
Key partners, including one of Africa’s largest law firms, shared valuable insights on the Constitution of South Africa and the Bill of Rights, equipping the girls with knowledge of their rights and freedoms.
The Cape Flats Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) contributed by offering educational input on the human body and its functions, further enriching the day’s learning, said the founder of Cape Flats YMCA, Ricardo De Reuck.
In addition to these sessions, each participant received thoughtful gift packs containing essential sanitary products and items that many of the girls previously did not have access to.
