During the recent school holidays, the Western Cape Education Department held a Safe Schools Boys 2 Men Camp at the Chrysalis Academy from Monday, June 30 to Wednesday, July 2.
The camp brought together pupils from Westridge, Tafelsig and Portlands high schools, as well as boys from the Rocklands community.
Organised by Cameron Du Toit and his team from the Metro South Education District, the camp focused on instilling discipline through drilling exercises and outdoor activities, while reinforcing values such as self-control, respect, teamwork and commitment.
Motivational speaker Shewaan Jumat, who runs his own personal development brand called Rich in Mind, delivered powerful talks encouraging the boys to build resilience and make positive life choices.

Law enforcement and Metro Police carried out safety searches and presented a K-9 dog demonstration to promote awareness and security.
“This initiative plays a critical role in guiding young men towards safer futures, highlighting the importance of community support in Mitchell's Plain,” said Mr Du Toit.
