Strandfontein youths are set to benefit from a mobile basketball post set donated to the local community police forum (CPF) by southern suburbs activist Keith Blake and his family.

The set, made from recycled poles, car tyres and rims, was built by Mr Blake’s son, Morné.

"We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Mr Blake and his family for their generous donation of two mobile basketball posts to the Strandfontein community.

"This wonderful gift will enable us to engage with our youth in a positive and constructive way," said Strandfontein CPF chairperson Sandy Schuter Flowers.

Ms Schuter Flowers said that the donation will provide much-needed recreational opportunities for the youth in Strandfontein.

"In our community, children often play in open parks or on the streets due to limited recreational facilities.

"We plan to 'rock up' and 'pop out' the mobile basketball posts to provide a fun and safe space for kids to play and stay active.

"The donation will help us bring joy and excitement to the children, while promoting a healthy lifestyle and community bonding," she said.

Ms Schuter Flowers invited organisations in the Strandfontein area to reach out to the forum and take advantage of the opportunity to provide a positive and healthy outlet for the youth.

"The basketball poles are available for use at any time, and we encourage you to incorporate them into your programmes and activities," she added.
