A Woodlands woman has made it her mission to serve her community.

Fatima Majal-Murison is the founder of Tanwir Learning Centre, which was registered as a non-profit company in 2019.

Despite no government funding, the organisation runs multiple initiatives focused on feeding programmes, disability support, senior care, and youth development.

Their impact reaches communities including Tafelsig and Heinz Park.

“To give someone a plate of food comes from my heart to the next person,” said Ms Majal-Murison.

That spirit is reflected in everything the centre does – from youth camps designed to steer teens away from drugs, to regular health and grooming services offered to seniors, to collecting adult diapers for those living with disabilities.

Earlier this month, they hosted a fundraising event and are now preparing for their Snack and Relax afternoon. Funds raised will go toward their annual seniors lunch on Saturday December 27, an event that honours elders from across Cape Town, with guests traveling from as far as Strand.

Tanwir Learning Centre is in urgent need of partners, donations, and supplies to continue this essential work. To offer support or get involved, contact Fatima Majal-Murison at 066 170 9869 or email fatimasafodien@gmail.com
