Three hundred parents, pupils and teachers took to the streets to spread the message of hope through an evening walk within the Hout Bay community last weekend. The Hope Walk was organised by Sentinel Primary School to inspire solidarity within the community, according to vice-principal, Debri-Lee de Jager. “The purpose of the walk was to show people who feel hopeless that they should remain focused and to know that there are people who care for them, especially the youngsters who lost their motivation and became influenced by drugs and gangsterism. Many people also walked with fairy lights,” she said. The group gathered with placards calling for peace within the community at the school at 7pm before they walked towards The Zone in Salamander Road and back.
