Photographer Simphiwe Ntshayi is on a mission to uplift other disabled people.
Khayelitsha photographer Simphiwe Ntshayi, who was struck by polio as a child, has started the Simpra Foundation to inspire disabled people to live positively.
Raised by a single mother, the 39-year-old needs the assistance of crutches to walk but has not let that stop him from serving others.
After his high school graduation, he pursued his passion for photography and embarked on a journey to become a professional in the industry.
Over the years, he has worked on various projects, including a collaboration with Ajax Cape Town players on a project titled Freedom.
In August 2022, Simphiwe founded a disability foundation with the vision of empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals.
“We aims to host annual events to support and uplift people with disabilities, creating a more inclusive society,” he said.
The foundation helps the disabled to access government departments and other institutions.
“Most disabled people get discouraged by red tape and we try to help them when they find difficulties. We serve as a linkage organisation,” Simphiwe said.
He is reaching out to the community and organisations for support and contributions to ensure the success of the foundation.
“Your assistance will not only help the foundation thrive but also enable individuals with disabilities to access the resources they need to succeed,” he said.
“I appeal for sponsorships to further the dreams I have to make an impact in the community. Any support will be greatly appreciated and will make a difference in the lives of many.”
