Saaleha Bhamjee launched her debut novel, Home Scar at Exclusive Books, Cavendish, on Tuesday September 17.

In conversation with Modjaji Publisher, Colleen Higgs, the full-time Johannesburg chef and restaurateur, Bhamjee said she has written all her life.

The story is about Asma, the only child of the Patels, growing up during the apartheid period in an Indian township in Durban. She said the story of love and friendship is an erotic coming-of-age tale and covers topics that are contentious and taboo.
