Yaaz Hendricks of Bloubergrandt High School won second prize at Twizza Urban Sport and Music Festival for his rap song.
Bosmansdam High School hosted the Twizza Urban Sport and Music Festival on the school grounds in Bothasig last week and 12 other schools from surrounding areas took part.
According to Bosmansdam’s principal, Gert van Tonder, the event created a “platform for students to showcase their talent and engage in healthy competition”.
Held from Thursday August 8 to Saturday August 10, the schools integrated and competed in talent competitions like “Beat Clash” where pupils showcased DJ skills, “Titans of Talent” where they showed off dance and arts, as well as rugby and netball matches.
The high schools involved were Bergvliet, Bloubergrandt, Bosmansdam, Camps Bay, Edgemead, Fairbairn College, JG Meiring, Kasselsvlei, Melkbosstrand, Parow, President, Table View and The Settlers.
In the talent section of the competition, first prize went to the jazz band “Dynamix” from The Settlers High School. They won R5 000 and the school received R10 000.
Yaaz Hendricks from Bloubergrandt High School won second prize for his rap song Spicy. He won R3 000. Urban Sounds from Fairbairn College won third prize (R2 000).

● First Place (R30 000): President High School
● Second Place (R20 000): Bosmansdam High School
