Silversands Trefoil Guilders and Portland Girl Guides visited and dropped off Jars of Hope in Mitchell’s Plain as of the volunteer movement Mandela Month celebrations.

They were also among the families from various groups who met at Pinelands Guide Hall on Saturday July 20 to help fill more than 2 300 jars, with pre-mixed soup ingredients for the needy in honour of Mandela Day (“Girl guides give back for Mandela Day”, Northern News July 24).

Organiser Tanya Prinsloo said they beat their goal of filling 1 670 jars with goods donated by members of the public, churches, friends and family.
