A Westridge woman was shot at and robbed while walking to a bus stop in Park Avenue last week.
A Westridge woman’s laptop may well have saved her life after she was shot at by robbers last week.
The woman was walking to a bus stop in Park Avenue, Westridge, on her way to work on Friday at 7am last week when she noticed to suspicious-looking men, says Mitchell’s Plain police chief Brigadier Mark Hartzenberg.
“The victim started to scream towards the other people at the bus stop,” he said.
When she started to run, one of the men took out a gun and shot at her.
The bullet got stuck in her laptop, which she was carrying on her back.
One of the men walked to the woman and grabbed her cellphone.
Brigadier Hartzenberg said the men were still at large and police were investigating a case of attempted murder and robbery.
“We are busy following up all leads,” he said.
Ward 81 councillor Ashley Potts said the laptop had probably saved the woman’s life.
He appealed to residents to join the neighbourhood watch.
