Kreative Beings is trying to make the arts more accessible.
The non-profit organisation was founded in 2022 and is dedicated to community upliftment and teaching art skills, said founder Kaylin Khan.
Kaylin has been doing small projects with youth from Lentegeur, connecting schools to arts programmes as well as having elderly experience theater for the first time.
They have workshops, classes, and events in various art forms, including visual arts, performing arts, music and dance. They connect with local artists, teachers, and community organizations to provide accessible and enriching artistic experiences as well as provide a platform for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to explore their talents, connect with others, and contribute to the cultural landscape, said Kaylin.
“It makes me happy to connect young people, their parents and the elderly to the arts industry. Many of them have never had this experience before and do not grow up in these circles of opportunities,” she said.
Kaylin worked as a volunteer in youth upliftment programmes and continues to host this for young people and the elderly. In future they will host more programmes for them, she said.
Leah September, 18, from Lentegeur said Kreative Beings impacted a lot of people, not just herself. They managed to fill a bus for the youth and elderly people from the community to the Baxter Theatre. “I got the opportunity to witness amazing art, I would definitely do it again.”
“My late grandmother took me to watch Kinnes Van Die Ses at The Lux Theatre. Today I get to work with those very people I grew up watching,” said Kaylin.
By providing opportunities for creative expression, skill development, and collaborative engagement, “we want to inspire positive change and contribute to a more vibrant and inclusive society,” she said.
With the projects she’s done, she’s worked closely with family and friends to help the community be exposed to theater and entertainment.
