Lentegeur police walked the streets of Woodlands speaking to residents about crime in the area and encouraging them to join the neighbourhood watch, street committees or block watches.
Lentegeur police station visible police commander Lieutenant Colonel Harry Brickles said the street imbizo on Wednesday May 22 was to warn residents about the increase in house robberies.
They spoke to residents one-on-one, distributing pamphlets and listing the most prevalent crimes, including robberies, domestic violence and theft.
“We encouraged residents to join the safety structures and to inform the police station on any suspicious activities within the area,” he said.
Joan Woodman, councillor for Ward 75, including Colorado Park, Morgen’s Village, Wildwood, Woodlands, Highlands Village, Hyde Park, parts of Weltevreden Valley and Westgate also joined the walkabout and thanked SAPS for their time and commitment to keeping the area safe.
