A 38-year-old man appeared in the Mitchell's Plain Magistrate's Court last Friday in connection with the murder of a former Americans gang boss in Tafelsig, say police.
Mogamat Sadaka Madatt, 55, was shot in the Kapteinsklip squatter camp in Tafelsig on Monday April 1 at 5.25pm.
Mr Madatt was a convicted drug dealer and diamond smuggler and the brother of Kaldimola “Dimes” Madatt, who was shot dead in Rocklands in November 2022 22 ("Gang violence needs investigation," Plainsman, November 9, 2022).
According to provincial police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Malcolm Pojie, officers were called to a hospital where Mr Madatt had died from multiple gunshot wounds.
He had been taken to hospital by private vehicle following what police believe was a gang-related shooting.
