A non-profit company is running free sewing classes at Lentegeur, Westridge and Parow libraries.
Pètor Creatives Youth Development, founded by Elana Pekeur, of Colorado Park, and Taryn Mentor, of Wildwood, will be running the classes from 10am to noon at the Lentegeur library on Tuesdays, Parow library on Wednesdays and Westridge library on Thursdays.
Participants learn their way around a sewing machine, how to cut a pattern and other related skills, according to Ms Pekeur.
The current class is making scrunchies and stuffed animals and bags which they hope to donate to the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital.
Jailynn Philander, from Kenwyn, said it was her second time doing the classes.
“It is nice to meet new people in a fun environment. They are not strict and you learn too,” she said.
