Sewing stars

The Mitchell's Plain Sewing Academy held its graduation on Saturday. In front, are founder Maria Brander and another graduate Elvina Hartzenberg. The non-profit company teaches basic dressmaking skills to unemployed youth, people who have fallen prey to gangsterism and drugs, and those who want to change their lives (“Stitching lives together with sewing training,” Plainsman April 5). The Potter’s House church helps the academy with donations and support.
