Lentegeur library staff have won a City service excellence award.
They received the recognition at a City library services' awards ceremony held at the Wynberg civic centre last week.
Senior librarian Ayesha Lennert told the Plainsman that library services in Mitchell’s Plain continued to be held in high regard and patrons had expressed positive views about its internet access, staff service and reading programmes, among other things.
Mayoral committee member for community services and health Patricia van der Ross said that while all of the City’s libraries went the extra mile for their communities, “the Lentegeur library stood even taller”.
Some of the library’s programmes include the Springdale Primary School’s Book Club, a career expo (“Pupils explore their futures at career expo,” Plainsman August 9), and a matric support group.
“I am proud of their achievement and know their programmes will continue to grow and impact those they serve,” said Ms Van der Ross.
