Caradale Primary School Grade 6 pupils Uzair Geyer, Taygen Isaacs, Tylor Mazonkai, and Likho Mlamleli, pictured with deputy principal Dawn Cockrill, participated in the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists, in August. Tylor and Likho were highly commended for the sea-portable wind turbine they created, while Uzair and Taygen received bronze medals in the environmental studies category for creating an underground watering system. Tylor said: “We wanted to find an end to this energy crisis. Besides load shedding, the cost of electricity is very high, and with alternate energy sources, we could perhaps make a difference.” Taygen said they would like to extend their project to the community.
