’Plain children visit SA Jewish Museum

Mitchell’s Plain youth visited the South African Jewish Museum in Cape Town.

The Jericho Foster Outreach Team, named after its 15-year-old founder from Beacon Valley, took more than 50 children, from Grades 5 to 8, to the South African Jewish Museum, in Cape Town, on Thursday October 5.

Jericho says he wants to make a difference in the community.

“We are trying to keep children out of gangsterism and drugs as well as alcohol abuse,” he said, adding that he wanted children to be the light in their communities, “making their parents proud”.

“We don’t receive any money or sponsorships from the government as an outreach team to do all of this, but we use whatever gifts we receive and that is why we are humbled.”

They would like to help all youth, no matter their race or religion.

He thanked the museum, the Golden Arrow Bus Service for providing transport, the parents who accompanied them and the community for their support in daily programmes.
