The Zoe Project and the Mitchell's Plain Midwife Obstetrics Unit (MOU) celebrated their third baby shower for 2022.

The 10-week free antenatal classes are available for anyone who is pregnant and booked at the clinic as a patient.

Pregnant moms learn all about their pregnancy, nutrition, childbirth readiness and breastfeeding when they attend. The class becomes a support structure for the moms who form friendships and share ideas on being the best they can be for their babies, said health promoter for the Zoe Project, Fahmieda Barends.

The Zoe Project has also launched their doula and childbirth companion programme at the Mitchell's Plain MOU.

Many mothers often labour alone, resulting in increased stress and anxiety. The volunteer doulas provide emotional and physical support for the moms during labour.

This is especially crucial for first time or teen mothers.

The organisation is in need of volunteer doulas in Mitchell’s Plain.

The next antenatal class starts early February 2023. For more details, contact The Zoe Project by email at info@thezoeproject.co.za or follow them on Facebook, The Zoe Project.
