Hillside Primary plants 25 trees

Through its EduPlant programme, non-profit organisation Food and Trees For Africa donated 25 trees to Hillside Primary School where a tree planting ceremony was held on Wednesday May 18.

Hillside Primary School held a special tree planting ceremony in their garden when NPO Food and Trees For Africa, through its EduPlant programme, donated 25 trees to the school.

The event took place on Wednesday May 18.

EduPlant — officially, The EduPlant School Gardening and Nutrition Programme — develops school-linked food security clusters in under-resourced communities and townships. It was started in 1994.

In addition to focusing on growing food and improving nutrition at schools, the programme also promotes sustainable practices, environmental ethics, and whole systems thinking.

Hillside Primary’s eco club teachers and pupils welcomed the organisation with a song and planted the trees with them around the school.

The pupils were delighted to be a part of the the tree planting ceremony for their school garden on Wednesday May 18.

The main goal is that the pupils will benefit from the trees in the future as they grow, said teacher Razaan Salie.
