Another body found on Baden Powell Drive

Another body has been found among the beach dunes “Beach body count climbs”, Plainsman, October 7, 2020).

Mitchell’s Plain police found the body of a man believed to be aged between 53 and 55 in a bush on Baden Powell Drive, near Tafelsig, on Sunday January 16, at 4pm.

The man was found wearing blue Nike takkies, blue jeans, a blue hoodie, red track pants and a shirt. Police have opened an inquest for investigation.

In another incident, cakes, biscuits, bags of sugar, cooking oil and cooldrinks were stolen when New Something Nice Bakery in Rocklands was burgled.

The burglary was discovered on Monday January 17 at 7.30am. A window and gate were damaged. Police are investigating a case of burglary and there have been no arrests.

In another case, a man was arrested in Porcupine Street, Eastridge, on Wednesday January 19, at 6pm, after Mitchell’s Plain police received information that drugs were being kept at this house.

They found 16 straws of tik, 10 units of crushed mandrax, and 24 straws of crushed mandrax. The man faces a charge of dealing in drugs. He is a gang member.

In another case, a 31-year-old man was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition on Sunday January 16, at 7pm. Police saw a man running when he saw the police van in Siberian Street, in Rocklands.

Police chased and caught him. They found a silver 9mm firearm with no serial number and one empty magazine in his possession. The man faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm.
