Tafelsig and Khayelitsha seniors were treated to brunch and later lunch to give them some time out from the stresses of looking after their families.

They were hosted by volunteers of Yumna’s Soup Kitchen in Botha Park, in Eastridge, on Wednesday September 22.

Organiser Shahied Williams said: “Thank you for coming here to be with us. So you can enjoy yourselves and not worry about the grandchildren and what they are going to eat.”

His wife Yumna, co-ordinator of the soup kitchen, was not present as she was in hospital with their new son.

Annually they host their older neighbours and this year they had guests from Khayelitsha.
