A Tafelsig boy was given a wheelchair by the Women's International Zionist Organisation (WIZO) South Africa at Integrated Guardian Ministries Eden Pentecostal Church, in Eastridge, on Wednesday June 9.
Jamie Chryslen Oerson, 11, who has cerebellar ataxia, and is paralysed from the waist down, was one of three recipients of the children’s wheelchairs, brought in from Israeli non-profit organisation Wheelchairs of Hope.
The other wheelchairs went to Migael Jansen, 6, from Upington, who was at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital on the day of handover; and to Lentegeur School for Learners with Special Educational Needs.
The Eastridge based church has been working with WIZO since February to assist parents, who have been carrying their children since birth.
