The Lions Club Mitchell’s Plain held a surprise book sale and a diabetes risk assessment at Westgate Mall where they also presented gift bags to the Children of Cancer Relay for Life at the mall.

The Lions Club of Mitchell’s Plain held a surprise book sale and a diabetes risk assessment at Westgate Mall where they also presented gift bags to the Children of Cancer Relay for Life at the mall.

The Lions Club of Mitchell’s Plain is part of the largest service organisation in the world, which was founded in June 1917 by Melvin Jones. They have nearly 1.40 million volunteers in over 200 countries with more than 48 000 clubs worldwide, said District Chairperson Marketing and Communications, Bevil Lakay.

Recently the Mitchell’s Plain club delivered gift bags to the Jorvan Outreach Student Centre in Woodlands handed products for the babies at Baitul Ansaar Child Care Center in Beacon Valley.

“We rely on donations from the public and generous donors to service the various needs within the community,” Mr Lakay said.
