Momentum kicked off its sixth season of #SheOwnsHerSuccess campaign with the tagline “My Success by Design” at an intimate event at Aurum at the Leonardo. In its sixth year, the #SheOwnsHerSuccess is a campaign that aims to empower women to achieve success their own way.
Women face many challenges, consciously or not. These challenges and inherited biases can stand in the way of women reaching their highest pinnacle of success. Through this campaign, Momentum aims to use data to engage and drive conversations about women’s journeys to success.
The event hosted by Olwethu Leshabane featured a conversation with Harvard Professor Anita Elberse as they unpacked Momentum’s commitment to supporting female athletes. Elberse will be delivering a masterclass for South Africa’s premier female athletes through her sought-after case studies.
A panel discussion entitled: ‘My success by design’ featuring African Olympian Medallist Alyssa Conley, DEI Futurist and Speaker Nyasha Zimucha and Lindani Bam, Marketing Executive for Strategy, Insights and Capabilities at Momentum Group was held to discuss some of the barriers hindering women’s success.
“Women have the potential to achieve great things and reach incredible heights in their careers, lives, and communities. It’s time we change the old narratives that hold women back from achieving their true potential and create spaces where they can grow, flourish, and inspire the next generation of women to do great things too,” says Qhawekazi Mdikane, Executive Head of Momentum Brand Marketing.
As part of the #SheOwnsHerSuccess campaign, Momentum will host the second Women Who Make Moves in Sports on 08 and 09 August. The Women Who Make Moves in Sport summit aims to give women athletes practical tools to better manage their brands to attract lucrative sponsorship deals and learn how to make the most out of their short sporting careers.
Participants can look forward to a riveting line-up of speakers, including an informative dive into what it takes to achieve financial success as a female athlete with sports social media and digital strategist, Nqobile Ndlovu. Duma Collective’s Sibu Mabena will also share insights on how to build a personal brand and reputation. Additionally, Harvard Professor Anita Elberse joins the line-up for a second year in a row, where she will take participants through a series of case studies on the world’s greatest athletes and how they achieved their success, showcasing how athletes can commercialise their sporting talents.
