Momentum’s women’s month campaign: Empowering women to rewrite their own timelines

In a world where society often tells women how they should live their lives, Momentum’s sixth Women’s Month campaign aims to change that.

With the message “My clock is ticking just fine”, the company is challenging the usual pressures women face about when to have children, build their careers, and reach other life milestones.

This initiative, part of the broader #SheOwnsHerSuccess campaign, introduces a new concept called "Gallery Lines", that aims to empower women to take control of their success across all areas of life.

The line, My clock is ticking just fine, serves as a direct challenge to the outdated societal norms that often dictate how women should structure their lives.

Qhawekazi Mdikane, Chief Executive Head of Momentum Brand Marketing, says that the Gallery Lines has emerged from a deeper conversation about the unrealistic expectations of women.

“She Owns Her Success campaign shines a spotlight on social codes and rules that impact women’s lives. This is something that women often must contend with especially when it comes to issues of motherhood and settling down,” Mdikane says.

She highlights the pressures many women face, noting that a significant majority (60% to 70%) are subjected to societal and cultural dictates that shape their decisions and limit their independence.

The Gallery Line, she says, “speaks to a woman who marches to the beat of her own drum,” emphasising that the person makes her own decisions and lives according to her own values, rather than conforming to societal norms or expectations.

Mdikane also offers personal advice to women struggling with these pressures. “Remember my motto, ‘Life is Tricky Baby, #StayinyourMagic’.” This motto, she says, is a reminder to stay true to oneself, building confidence and focusing on what truly matters rather than succumbing to external expectations.

As part of this campaign, Momentum will host two workshops on August 14 and 17, featuring practical advice on navigating independence, relationships, and personal success. One of the key speakers will be Harvard Business School Professor Anita Elberse.

“I would urge everyone to register for these exciting events and join us as we have conversations about the weight of independence, relationships, the pressure of success and much more!" Mdikane says.

“We encourage women to get the right expertise and advice so that they have the technical experts to guide them financially as they pursue their dreams.”
