There are few trends that Rihanna can’t pull off. Head-to-toe zebra? Check. Lingerie as a top? You betcha. When it comes to her street style, the singer and beauty entrepreneur enjoys taking risks and experimenting with different looks and silhouettes—and her latest style proposal is one of her boldest yet. This weekend in New York City, Rihanna stepped out in an extremely baggy pair of jeans, and they weren’t your average pair of wide-leg denim. They even swept the floor!
Her shredded jeans featured an extra-long hemline that grazed the New York City pavement—like the cooler version of a dress train. She paired the avant-garde jeans with a bedazzled pair of Savage x Fenty briefs, as well as a sheer bra top and breezy button-up top. Even her sky-high pumps couldn’t help the jeans from pooling on the ground. And sure, we know what you’re thinking: Is that the most practical choice? Of course not. But this is Rihanna! She wore the extremely baggy pair of jeans because she can. And, somehow, totally pulled it off, too.
Now, is this summer going to be like a scene out of Mean Girls, where we all start wearing suddenly extra-long jeans because Rihanna wore extra-long jeans? Perhaps not. But if there’s a takeaway from the look, it’s to not be afraid to switch things up and go for the extreme. Sometimes you just have to go for it.
