K.O's new single ‘Push It’: a fresh start for the hip hop legend

South African hip hop legend K.O is gearing up to release his brand new single, “Push It” on Friday, March 7.

The upcoming track promises to deliver the same energy and authenticity that have made K.O a household name in the industry.

Following the massive success of his last single, “Let Me Cook”, featuring Maglera Doe Boy which achieved platinum status, K.O is showing no signs of stopping.

“Push It” is expected to be another chart-topper, showcasing his signature style and playful side. According to the rapper, the song is all about pushing limits in a fun and light-hearted way.

 “I feel like SA hip hop has been missing that playful side. You don’t always have to prove your rap skills, there’s genius in simplicity,” he explained.

The new single also marks a fresh start for K.O, as he is rebranding but he will still be keeping the consistency, bringing the authentic energy he is known for. 

The song also includes a narrated  trailer where the narration paints a gritty picture of the Johannesburg city life, referencing “scumbags,” “amaphara (thieves),” and “scammers” in a haunting tone.

The scene is set in the streets of Braamfontein, Johannesburg. It then cuts to South Africa's violent unrest, evoking a sense of chaos and turmoil. 

However, the narration takes a darker, more ominous turn when K.O references the “year of the snake” in 2025. The tone shifts to one of resilience and transformation, urging listeners to “shed their own skin to level up” and ultimately, to “turn up.”

The narration is a thought-provoking and intense introduction to K.O's new single, hinting at how he is rebranding from his days as “Mr Cashtime”. With the single set to drop this week, fans are eagerly anticipating K.O's latest offering.
