A Lentegeur media personality is among the contestants in this year’s Mr South Africa pageant and wants to use his platform to raise awareness about men’s mental health.
Dylan Majavie, 29, has entered the competition for the first time this year. Finalists will be chosen by August followed by the crowning in November in Johannesburg. The finalists will be mentored, coached and able to tap into networking opportunities, said Majavie.
He known for his big hair and is also an actor, singer and radio presenter.
“I am ready and more confident in myself and my skin. I have a story to tell. I want to touch many lives and be an example to the youth. You can achieve your dreams if you put your mind to it and believe in yourself.”
Majavie said “when he wins” Mr South Africa 2024, “I will use my powers to spread the importance of mental health and self-development, making sure young men are educated about the power of working on yourself, making yourself a better individual. We do have a responsibility to be our authentic selves allowing our light to shine.”
As a singer, Majavie, who was born in Lavender Hill, released his first single Touched by Love in February.
The soulful ballad is the first track on his soon-to-be-released album called Dear Bestie.
His new music speaks about being your own best friend, your first love and loving yourself. People can expect sounds of Afro pop, soul and R&B, to name a few, he said.
It took time to get to where he is, he said. “If someone wants to follow this journey, be patient with who you are, be confident and get to know who you are a bit more. Understand your why on this journey but also enjoy it and have fun,” he said.
The finals and crowning of Mr South Africa will take place on Saturday November 9 at Vodacom World in Midrand, Johannesburg. The link to vote for Dylan Majavie is on his social media pages.
